ELDOA traditionally is a practice that focuses on spinal health, alignment, and function by using active tension in a stretch. It focuses all joints of the body by using fascial lines to open space in the joints and space between the vertebrae.  This class will improve your overall strength and mobility, both physically & mentally, to help you perform at your best. By combining these elements you are becoming stronger, leaner and more flexible, while you improve your body awareness.


ELDOA is actually a French acronym used to describe the spine stretching technique developed by the French osteopath Guy Voyer DO. The translation is: LOADS (Longitudinal Osteo-articular Decoaptation Stretches) which are postural self-normalizing techniques, that aim at widening the space within a pair of joints. Comprised of a series of exercises addressing each level in the spine, this method offers unparalleled results in the world of back pain, weakness, fatigue and all the associated discomfort.
ELDOA Fitness is the instruction and active use of these postural exercises, in a typical class we start by executing a proper warm up and then move into reinforcement exercises for the spine and other joints. Next we move into Myofascial Stretches (MFS), then we spend time in the ELDOA postures. Both MFS and ELDOA postures can be very specific and complex techniques that require strong attention to form and correct progressions, which is why it is best to start with a coach’s guidance.



Everyone will benefit from the effects of ELDOAs and MFS but each person is different and without proper instruction and help from a Certified ELDOA/MFS Instructor, these techniques will not be as effective. By attending the classes, you not only receive instruction from an certified instructor but the full hour is dedicated to improving the longevity of your spine and other joints. Osteo-Articular Joint Pumping | the cornerstone of the VOYER Paradigm.  In order for the body to heal properly either from acute or chronic dysfunction, the body must manage the inflammatory process correctly and have proper efficient flow of water and other important fluid throughout the body.  Osteo-Articular Joint Pumping techniques organize the acute inflammatory process to make its healing process more effective. It moves stagnated fluid in a chronically painful or tight joint to make it mobile and function more efficiently.

Fascial Normalization |  Therapists who possess Fascial Normalization techniques have the ability to immediately treat the severely acute patient, finalize complex soft tissue cases and restore function to the fasciae of the viscera. Water is a major element of the fasciae. The proper flow of water (within the fibers and ground substance, within an articulation, and from one fasciae to another) is requisite for proper physiological and biomechanical function of a specific fasciae, articulation and kinetic chain. Within the collagen fibers of the fasciae, water and fluid not only flow in and around the fibers and articulations, it is constantly being linked and unlinked to the fibers themselves. This linking and unlinking is part of a physiological process known as the Primary Respiratory Mechanism.  A properly functioning PRM is one of the indicators of fascial health.

Transverse Tendinous and Ligamentous Stretching (TTLS)| Fibers, specifically collagen, are a major element of the fasciae. In a tendon, ligament or muscle, there are a larger proportion of fibers to cells. These fibers give these fasciae its tensile strength and determine their function. Specialized cells in ligaments, tendons and muscles have a sensory function giving valuable information to the central nervous system.  The higher proportion of collagen fibers and specialized sensory cells found in tendons, ligaments and muscles call for a different treatment strategy than fasciae with a lower proportion of fibers or sensory cells. TTLS is a technique that addresses the structural needs and sensory functions of tendons, ligaments and muscles. Therapists who know TTLS techniques are able to: 1) increase vascularization of the tissues by treating tendons, ligaments and muscles, 2) choose the quality of sensory input from the tendon, ligament or muscle to the central nervous system, thereby increasing the overall quality (cells, fibers, extracellular matrix) of the tendon, ligament or muscle that is acutely or chronically injured.

Diaphragmology | Techniques to normalize the four foundational diaphragms of the body: pelvic, thoracic, cervico-thoracic and cranial. This modality explores how the presence of these four structures manages tension and compression in the head, thorax, abdomen and pelvis leading to complete tensegritous model of the body.  The course also explores how the proper management and functioning of these structures effects function of all of the viscera in relation to the diaphragms.
